About the Workplace
The City Management Office is the administration of the City Council and the Municipal Assembly.
The office's mission is to support the City Council in leading, coordinating, and monitoring the operations, economy, and other strategic planning of the City of Gothenburg.
We are now looking for an Analyst
We are now looking for an analyst who will belong to the area of planning, monitoring, analysis, and economy, whose mission is to be responsible for leading and coordinating the strategic planning and monitoring of the City of Gothenburg. The area is also responsible for exercising supervision over the city's operations.
Job Responsibilities
The Planning and Analysis Department is one of three departments within the area and currently consists of 14 employees. The department's overarching mission is to ensure and deliver good governance information through planning and analysis. The department will be responsible for managing and developing the city's common processes for budgeting/planning regarding operations (including goals and assignments), HR, statistics, strategic local supply, and economy. The area and department work in close collaboration with the city's administrations and companies. This provides good opportunities for a holistic view of the City of Gothenburg, its organization, and operations.
Together with five colleagues, you will contribute to developing and managing the city's central statistics operations. Job responsibilities include support in demographic analyses and the development of population forecasts. Analysis work on segregation and equality is another important focus area in the role. You will largely work with register data in various areas such as population, employment, socioeconomics, and housing, among others through the longitudinal database available in the operations.
The role also includes contributing to the development of the operations towards more data-driven analysis, including the application of AI tools and common methods. You will develop analyses, methods, and tools, and have an actively supportive role towards other city administrations regarding data and analysis support. The work involves challenging tasks with high complexity where overview and a holistic view are important. You have significant influence over working methods and good opportunities for developing your own competence.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with several years of experience in statistics and analysis. Since a large part of the work is done in the programming language R, experience in R programming is required. A degree in social sciences or statistics, or another equivalent degree as assessed by the employer, is also required for the assignment.
Meritorious:
- Experience working in databases with statistical analyses and data analysis
- Experience working with population/employment databases, preferably with microdata such as STATIV, LISA, or similar
- Experience in report writing
- Experience working in a politically governed organization
As a person, you have the ability and interest to have a holistic perspective on operations. It is important that you enjoy working exploratively and thinking innovatively. You are a collaborator with a good ability to capture and analyze complex contexts. In your work, you are solution-oriented, structured, unpretentious, and have a high level of service. Furthermore, you have strong communication skills and are comfortable giving presentations.
We place great emphasis on collaboration skills as we are a small group working together and supporting each other, even though we mainly work with individual areas of responsibility.
